About Me

I'm a stay-at-home quilter with 2 lovable toddlers, I love to quilt & blog, and I work & teach a part time at Fancy Tiger Crafts in Denver. Learned to sew from my mamma in 4-H around 7 or 8yo, and quickly learned to make quilts when I joined a charity quilting group in 6th grade. Turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life! I've been quilting ever since, and my passion and creativity have exploded even more now that blogs and the entire online quilting industry has emerged.

I've picked Everything Equal by Louise Papas in Modern Blocks compiled by Susanne Woods.   Sample here: http://www.roseandlin.com/modern-blocks-quilt-along-week-4/

Instructions:
White fabric (Kona snow if available or something of a similar color) - Cut 2 strips 12 1/2" x 3 1/2" & 1 strip 12 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Colored fabric scraps - Cut 12 squares 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"  (please pick a single color and just work within that for the entire block - any color is fine)

How to:

1) With right sides together, dew 6 colored squares together in a row.  Press the seams to one side.  Repeat with the other 6 colored squares to make 2 rows of 6 colored each.

2) With right sides together, sew the colored pieced rows to the top and bottom of the 12 1/2" x 2 1/2" white strip.  Press the seams toward the darker fabrics.

3) Sew 12 1/2" x 3 1/2" white strips to the top and bottom of the center unit.  Press.

4) Trip the block to 12 1/2" x 12 1/2".

Pictures of previous blocks are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157636849864894/

I'd like to get an assortment of colors :)  Who doesn't love rainbows?!?!

Although I have quilted on and off for the better portion of a decade, I feel that my techniques could be improved by collaborating with and learning from other quilters.  Mostly everything I know about quilting is self taught and what was taught to me by my (deceased) mother and grandmother was very informal.  I also hope to gain inspiration by seeeing other quilters work.

About Me

Hi!  I recently moved back to Colorado after living in Texas for six years.  While in Texas I started sewing on a regular basis, and I started quilting in 2012.  I learn as I go, which I think is the best way to learn anything!  My grandma is an amazing quilter, and I grew up playing with scraps of fabric while she sewed.  I love the smell of old fabric, and have a slight obsession with buying vintage fabic/linens at thrift stores.  I got married in 2012, and we have two fur-babies.

When did you begin your first quilt?

I made four lap quilts for Christmas presents in 2012.

When I'm not quilting, I like to:

Well, I spend a lot of time in my craft room (the whole basement now that we've moved!!) which is my haven for unfinished projects.  I tend to collect hobbies, but I always come back to sewing/quilting.  I also like spending time with my friend, going to movies, and cuddling with my husband and dogs while watching tv.

I'm learing as I go! I've made a couple smaller quilts, and now I'm working on a king size for my sister's wedding.

I would love to make some friends that share my love for quilting, and maybe share some ideas with each other.  I would like to be an active member of this community.
