About Me

I started quilting after college and made lots of hand appliqued baby quilts of my own design - mostly scenes and characters based on world folk/fairy tales.  I didn't quilt much when my own children were growing up, but have begun again in the past ten years.  When I started quilting, everything was hand-quilted, which I loved to do.  Now I'm learning machine quilting, which has some benefits and some drawbacks.

About Me

I'm a wife to the sweetest man ever, a mother to 2 beautiful girls (27/31 ), and grandma to Princess Jasmine (7). I'm a sister, daughter and friend to many. I'm a writer/author of 2 knitting books; Dishcloth Diva, and Dishcloth Diva Knits On! I find my inspiration for anything I do by the people I meet, the people I see, and the things that cross my path every day. Inspiration is everywhere. I've blogged about it here...

http://dishclothdiva.blogspot.com/

I'm a crafter of many fun things, including sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, etc. I'm a fiber-a-holic, which mean I hoard yarn...and lots of it. Whe I'm not hoarding yarn, I'm hoarding fabric...my second favorite thing to do is quilt.

When I'm not quilting, I like to:

Knit, Knit, Knit, and gather quilt patterns to use for future projects. :) I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also do lunch really well, so if you're interested contact me.

About Me

My mom was a seamstress and I started sewing doll clothes when I was about 6 years old.  That led to sewing my own clothes, which I pretty much did throughout high school and college.  Other than making necessities for the house, like window coverings, I got away from it until recently.  A couple of years ago I got a new machine, and made my first quilt later that year using a pattern from one of Elizabeth Hartman's books.  I'm eager to tackle my next project, which will be following Amy Gibson's 2012 Block of the Month club on Craftsy.

I'm delighted to have found FRMQG!  (Thanks to meeting Amy and Melissa at the Denver Art Museum's "Spun" exhibit!)

Tutorial for block

http://www.mollyflanders.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-make-that-block.html

I would like the background/foundation color to be gray. The strips of the star could be any size.  I would like the strips to be bright scrappy colors of any value. The final star block will be 10 1/2 inches square.

I am looking for blocks that use colors in the Pacific Northwest Coastal Colorway. This can be taupe, stone, teal, salmon/crab pink, sand, sea grass, hay, and sable on Kona Snow or White background. Just go to http://design-seeds.com/index.php/home/entry/sea-hues or http://design-seeds.com/index.php/home/entry/color-crash3 or http://design-seeds.com/index.php/home/entry/underwater-hues3   and you'll see. Solids or prints, I am easy, and if you want to do grays and neutrals I am all for it too!

This quilt is my newest obsession! http://www.sewmamasew.com/january2014/IQ112.jpg

The tutorial for the block is here. http://www.sewcraftyjess.blogspot.com/2012/05/starburst-cross-block-tutorial.html

Thank you! :)
