I am so encouraged and inspired by other modern quilters. I find that when I'm sewing and quilting around others, that I am able to be a little more free and get out of my own head a bit more. Plus, I LOVE to see what others are creating!!:)

I blog about my quilting at:

About Me

I hale from California where I lived for 55 years.  My husband, young adult daughter, and I moved to Colorado Springs in 2008.  I was terribly homesick for my friends and the land that I knew so well and I spent a lot of time wasting away wishing I was back home.  At some point a shift occurs somewhere deep inside.  I stopped taking a plane flight to Cali feeling like I was going home and started visiting, returning to the Rocky Mountains with that feeling of coming home.  After a decade in Colorado I once again “left home” to pursue employment opportunities and a new life in New Mexico.  I left with many treasured memories of Colorado but I could not leave my friends at FRMQG  my membership is long distance now with an annual trip to Monument for the spring retreat.  I stay in touch every day through IG as Ladyrosien.

When did you begin your first quilt?

I played with quilting when I was a teenager and young adult. When my children were born I made little baby quilts, but I really started to quilt in earnest when my passion for painting began to wane. I seemed too busy to get the paints out and get something done, but the quilting could stay in progress. I kept working on pieces and found that I liked it so much better than any form of artistic expression. Now, when people ask me what I do I always say, I am a quilter.

When I'm not quilting, I like to:

I keep in touch with my friends through Instagram. ladyrosien is the name I use on Instagram.

I spend time seriously writing when on vacation in the summer.  Like my quilts, my novels are WIPs that I hope will not become UFOs.

I enjoy shopping for interesting things to decorate my house and I love to cook.  I get tired of same old same old so I often am trying to create something new to entertain my heart.

When we moved to Colorado I left a lifetime of family and friends In California.  My quilting buddies were so far away.  I wanted to become acquainted with people who live near enough to share time and ideas in person.  The FRMQG has really met that need.  I am so stoked to find a group of people who are not conventional quilters.  I like to do different things and not feel as though I didn't do it "right" because I approached it in a non-traditional manner.

About Me

I'm a full-time dental hygienist and mommy of 4 yr old Oscar.  We moved to Denver from Seattle about 3 years ago for my husbands job.  We miss the Northwest but seriously love it here!  I love to sew and my mother in law taught me the basics of quilting.   I am lucky enough to my have Nana's 1947 Singer Featherweight--she's a delight to piece with and quite a workhorse!

About Me
I moved (along with my husband) to Castle Pines, CO in mid-January from Houston, Texas. While in Houston, I was a member of the Houston Modern Quilt Guild. I enjoy the energy Modern Quilting provides and when I found Modern Quilting I found other quilters who weren't afraid to experiment and try new things -- no matter what the outcome.

I'd like the Japanese x and + blocks (13x13, that will finish 12.5x12.5).

Here is the page for Megan's tutorial on her blog City Stitches.

http://citystitches.blogspot.com/2012/03/japanese-x-and-tutorial.html

Scrappy blocks are fine but I'd like some grey fabric somewhere on every block. It can be any grey, light or dark,  print or solid.
