About Me

I am a stay-at-home mother of one angel baby and two furry Austrailian Shepherd 'kids'. I discovered my passion for creating things when I was 6 years old and made a Christmas stocking for my mom. All my life I"ve watched as my mother would take skeins of yarn and turn them into sweaters, blankets, and socks. I also watched her take stacks of crazy fabric and turn it into a wonderful piece of quilted art; never fully understanding how it was possible to have such vision and creativity! Over the years I've many different creative outlets including sewing, clothing, fabric arts (fabric dying and hand felting), beading, stamping, scrapbooking, and finally quilt making. While I've known how to sew for several decades now, until recently I had yet to make a usable quilt. Now that I have my first full size quilt (well it's a baby quilt) completed, I'm ready to make more and see what other folks are making! I love the new modern fabrics and designs, so this group is very appealing to me. I'm looking forward to meeting and sewing with everyone.

Allison

Hey, lady, sorry for the late response. I think you have to be a dues-paying member for access to post pictures. Have you looked at the FAQ's for info on membership (and the benefits of same)? The first meeting is free if you want to check us out before deciding if you really want to join :)

Hi, Allison! I'm sorry to be so late to welcome you. Melissa said it --you are perfect for our guild :) Do you have a blog we could check out?

Our next meeting is next weekend (Saturday the 16th) at Fancy Tiger boutique in Denver. I hope you can make it --there will probably be some people carpooling if you're interested. It will really be a lot of fun.

Have a great weekend
Marta

P.S. I love Aussies! My dog growing up was a black lab/aussie mix. I now have two labs (black and chocolate).

Gosh, Allison, it sounds like you've found the right group!! We are definitely all abou the modern fabric and designs, and making usable quilts, and learning new techniques and encouraging each other and building up this (lost) art of quilting.

Check the calendar tab, we've got a meeting Saturday at The Hub (off Knollwood) in Monument. The meeting itself is from 10-12, and then we have an open sew after that till about 5 pm. The sew is a great time to get advice, make some progress, meet others, or learn something new. If you can come, please Rsvp so we know to expect you, otherwise, hopefully we'll see you at the next meeting.

If you haven't checked out the FAQs, they're pretty thorough, but if you have any other questions, please ask us! I look forward to meeting you.
