About Me

I am a school administrator and that is where I spend most of my time.   When I am not herding all of the munchkins at our school, I love to be in the saddle, riding the trails in Colorado.  I hale from California where I lived for 55 years.  My husband, young adult daughter, and I moved to Colorado Springs in 2008.  I was terribly homesick for my friends and the land that I knew so well and I spent a lot of time wasting away wishing I was back home.  At some point a shift occurs somewhere deep inside.  I stopped taking a plane flight to Cali feeling like I was going home and started visiting, returning to the Rocky Mountains with that feeling of coming home.  I decided to start getting to know this place where I live, exploring and writing about the places I find, the things about Colorado that I discover.  If you visit my blog aliveinColorado@wordpress.com, you will read about a variety of things that are occupying my mind.  Of course, quilting is one of those things.

I am an adventurous quilter.  When I saw the Gees Bend Quilters show at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, I went back to see it three times.  Then, when it came to Denver, I went again.  I love the primitive look and I am nuts about bold colors.  I started looking for a different kind of guild and found this one.  Wow!  Nobody could have fashioned a guild character and mission that is closer to my heart and needs.  I AM HERE!

Lyn, thanks so much for the welcome note! I read your profile and can't tell you how much of it resonated with me. I can't wait to meet you!

I am on my way to the meeting today, from Boulder, and will be a little late. Hopefully I will see you there!

Hi Lyn! Actually, I have not made a quilt in life. I didn't even like quilts until I came across this modern stuff. I would love to learn how to quilt. I picked up a book called "Block Party" from the library, started looking up things online and that's how I found MQG.

Hi Lyn,
Wow that is a big block. You need to cut the white fabric 13.25" square. Sorry, that this block is giving you troubles.
